High-pressure mercury lamps are the real heavy lifters when it comes to industrial curing and sterilization. They do the dirty work. We build these to pump out concentrated UVC and UVB, but here is the thing: if you’re moving away from generic bulbs and starting your own OEM brand, you can’t just slap a logo on a box. You need to get the technical side right, or your customers will be calling you with dead bulbs in a week.
The Balancing Act: Power and Heat
It all comes down to the pressure and temperature inside that arc. We can tweak the wattage and voltage to fit whatever ballast you’re using. But there’s a catch. If you crank up the wattage to get more “punch” (photon flux), you’re also cranking up the heat on the quartz envelope. If your cooling system isn’t up to the task, the lamp is going to burn out way too fast. It’s a trade-off. You want intensity, but you also want the thing to actually last.
The Nitty-Gritty: Quartz and Connectors
We use high-purity fused quartz because it lets the UV light through without blocking it. Sometimes, depending on what you’re trying to do, we can “dope” the quartz to shift the light spectrum. Then there are the connectors. We can do standard pin bases or something totally custom so the lamp just slides right into existing machines. You don’t want a loose fit. A bad connection leads to arcing, and that’s a quick way to fry the base of your lamp.
Making it Your Own
Building a brand is more than just aesthetics. We let you call the shots on the physical footprint—the length, the diameter, the wattage. You get to decide the mercury fill level, too. Here is the honest truth: if you want a lamp that hits hard and fast, it’s probably going to have a shorter life.
